Guideline for surface contamination outside of control areas averaged over 100 cm2 (CS).
The value of CS is calculated based on the following scenarios where the worst is chosen:
- continuous irradiation throughout the year (8760 hours) through a skin contamination leads to an equivalent dose of 50 mSv per year (1/10 of the dose limit for the skin);
- a daily ingestion of contamination on an area of 10 cm2 results in an effective dose of 0.5 mSv per year;
- a single inhalation of 10% of the activity of a contamination on an area of 100 cm2 leads to a dose of 0.5 mSv (1/10 the permit limit);
- a maximum value of 1000 Bq / cm2.
