CEA access to Nucleonica

Through an agreement with Nucleonica, the CEA has arranged a trial period for full Premium access to Nucleonica for its scientific staff. The trial period lasts approximately two months from the beginning of September to end of October. We encourage a strong use of the Nucleonica nuclear science Portal during this time.
Attention should be drawn to the Nucleonica brochure which can be downloaded from the website. This gives a good overview of all the modules and features available in Nucleonica. Paper versions of this brochure can be obtained from info@nucleonica.com.

Nucleonica welcomes WAK users

Through an institutional license agreement, staff at the WAK in Karlsruhe, Germany has now full Premium access to the Nucleonica modules and features.
Wiederaufarbeitungsanlage Karlsruhe Rückbau- und Entsorgungs-GmbH«, short WAK GmbH, is responsible for all dismantling activities for decommissioned nuclear test and prototype plants and for the treatment of radioactive wastes and residues on the site of the former Nuclear Research Centre Karlsruhe.

The Nucleonica team looks forward to a close interaction with the WAK colleagues and encourages a strong use of the web portal.

Nucleonica welcomes Algeta ASA

THOROTRAST makes headlines again…

In a recent article, a group of scientists from Italy report on the effect of the energy deposition of radioactive substances inside the human body. They claim to show, for the first time, the importance of the recoiling nucleus in causing damage to DNA structure. The substance they investigated is THOROTRAST – a trademark for a suspension of slightly radioactive particles of thorium dioxide ThO2. This substance was used as a contrast medium for X-ray diagnostics in the 1930s and 40s.
