The Federal Office for Radation Protection in Germany (Bundesamt für Strahlenschutz – BfS) has recently ordered a standalone version of Nucleonica for use on notebook computers “in the field” where there may be no internet connection available. The standalone version is based on the use of a virtual server resident on the notebooks. After launching the virtual server, all Nucleonica applications are available through the use of a browser such as Internet Explorer, Firefox or Chrome without access to the internet. This innovative development has been made possible through the latest virtualisation technology now available.
